A Week In Perth, Western Australia
In celebration of Cayla completing treatment for breast cancer, we boarded a plane and headed to Perth in Western Australia, for a week of fun and frivolity.
We left Melbourne during a cold period and rugged up, only to arrive in Perth and find the sun shining and consistent 30+ degree (celsius) weather. Our jackets and winter woolies were quickly abandoned at our hotel (the Adnate) as we began exploring the city.
We ventured to Perth Zoo as one of our first stops.
The next day, we took a trip to Rottnest Island, a place I've been excited to visit. It’s a place of immense beauty, with a terrible history.
It’s also home to Quokkas, a native marsupial that was once common on the mainland but now only exists on Rottnest Island. The Quokkas were mostly elusive in the first few hours we explored, but by the late afternoon, they were everywhere.
We played a round of mini-golf and were stunned as these little creatures hopped on and off the course, completely unperturbed.
We wrapped up our time at Rottest and spent our remaining time in Perth exploring the Botanic Gardens and watching the Matildas play. It was such a thrill to see Sam Kerr, Mary Fowler and the rest of the team work their magic.
I was amazed at how passionate the audience was!
Before we knew it, it was time to return home. Going to Perth was such an enjoyable experience, I’d love to do it again sometime soon!
